Oxytocin

The Connection Peptide

Oxytocin is a naturally occurring neuropeptide that acts through oxytocin receptors to influence social bonding, trust, emotional recognition, and the body's response to stress. Research also examines its relationship with cortisol regulation, autonomic cardiovascular balance, and signalling involved in muscle and skin repair. Labbieux supplies Oxytocin exclusively as a nasal spray formulation for professional research.

Mechanism

How Oxytocin Works

Oxytocin binds to widely distributed OXTR receptors in the brain, heart, uterus, gastrointestinal tract, and immune cells. In the central nervous system, it activates the limbic system (particularly the amygdala) reducing fear responses and stress reactivity while enhancing prosocial behaviours and emotional availability. Peripherally, oxytocin reduces cortisol secretion from the adrenal glands, lowers blood pressure through vasodilatory effects, promotes tissue repair by activating resident stem cells in muscle and skin, and modulates inflammatory cytokine balance. Regular protocols support emotional regulation, stress resilience, and relationship quality.
