Delta Sleep

Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide

DSIP is a naturally occurring neuropeptide that actively drives the brain into deep delta-wave sleep, the most physically restorative phase during which growth hormone peaks, tissue repair occurs, and memories consolidate. Unlike pharmaceutical sleep aids, it does not distort sleep architecture or cause dependence, and it also normalises the cortisol rhythm that controls the entire sleep-wake cycle.

Mechanism

How Delta Sleep Works

DSIP modulates neurotransmitter activity across multiple systems: it increases GABA-A receptor sensitivity, reduces noradrenergic tone (reducing arousal), and normalises cortisol and ACTH secretion rhythms: all of which contribute to sleep onset and deep sleep maintenance. It promotes the entry into and duration of NREM stage 3 (delta wave sleep), during which GH secretion is highest and cellular repair processes are most active. DSIP also demonstrates direct antioxidant properties, inhibits stress-induced anxiety through limbic system modulation, and has been studied for use in chronic pain, opiate withdrawal, and circadian rhythm normalisation.
