Adipotide

Pro-apoptotic Targeting Peptide

Adipotide is a fat-loss peptide designed to target the blood supply feeding fat cells, causing them to shrink without directly affecting surrounding tissue. Studies reported an 11% reduction in body weight and a 27% reduction in abdominal circumference within 28 days without calorie restriction. It works through a different mechanism from appetite-based compounds by targeting the vasculature of fat depots.

Mechanism

How Adipotide Works

Adipotide consists of two functional domains: a targeting motif that binds prohibitin on the surface of adipose-vasculature endothelial cells and a pro-apoptotic sequence derived from the D(KLAKLAK)2 antimicrobial peptide. Once bound to the adipose blood-vessel surface, the pro-apoptotic domain disrupts mitochondrial membranes in endothelial cells, triggering apoptosis and vascular regression specifically in white adipose depots. Studies reported an 11% reduction in body weight and a 27% reduction in abdominal circumference over four weeks.
