Human randomized

Long-term efficacy and safety of elamipretide in patients with Barth syndrome: 168-week open-label extension results of TAZPOWER.

Key finding

During a 168-week open-label extension in Barth syndrome, elamipretide was associated with a cumulative 96.1-metre improvement in six-minute walk distance, lower fatigue scores and improved cardiac-volume measures.

Genetics in medicine : official journal of the American College of Medical Genetics 2024

Cardiogen component rat tissue-culture evidence. Relevant to SS-31 + Cardiogen

PubMed
Human randomized

Efficacy and Safety of Elamipretide in Individuals With Primary Mitochondrial Myopathy: The MMPOWER-3 Randomized Clinical Trial.

Key finding

In the randomized MMPOWER-3 trial, elamipretide was well tolerated but did not improve six-minute walk distance or fatigue scores versus placebo at 24 weeks.

Neurology 2023

Cardiogen component animal evidence. Relevant to SS-31 + Cardiogen

PubMed
Preclinical animal

Elamipretide (SS-31) improves mitochondrial dysfunction, synaptic and memory impairment induced by lipopolysaccharide in mice.

Key finding

In mice, elamipretide reduced mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress and neuroinflammation while improving synaptic structure, learning and memory after lipopolysaccharide exposure.

Journal of neuroinflammation 2019
